To make the most of The Pause (a year without The Conference) we are looking for a new colleague to join our team to help us develop concepts for gathering around themes relevant to the futures of business and society.

The objective with the work is to grow people’s capacity to use the future as a material of hope, and enable a sense of agency to shape our shared futures. 

We are looking for a person for whom it comes natural to identify shared questions and topics that different people can gather around. A person motivated to strengthen Malmö’s participatory culture, bridge disciplines and foster a sense of belonging and collaboration within Malmö’s professional community.

The position has two focuses: 1) to design and test formats for what an annual futures gathering (an iteration of The Conference) can be; and 2) to mobilise people, companies and organisations to be a part of designing and executing it.

In this role you will lead the work in testing new ways of hosting and curating in Media Evolution recurring programs (workshops, seminars, summer party, and focus groups), participate in other organisations’ events and listen to hopes and desires in the local and global community.

You will work closely with our Collaborative Foresight Lead, COO, Project Manager for the DigIT HUB, and Producer, and you will interact with experts and professionals in our community.

Questions you will explore in this role:

• How do we want to gather in professional contexts?

• What makes sense to learn and create, once a year, in community?

• How do we span the widths and breadths of a vividly diverse city to imagine, prepare for and shape futures, inclusively?

• How do we build agency, confidence and capacity across scales and sectors, to shape the futures we want to see?

• How do we both envision and enact—desirable futures with and for many?

• What can be co-created together at scale and across a city? How do we share knowledge, learnings and insights generated?

  
  

In this role, you will have the responsibilities to:

• Lead the concept development and co-curation of a conference in October.

• Facilitate two focus groups working on topics related to the October conference.

• Help the Media Evolution team conduct format/details tests in their recurring program of open events.

• Contribute to developing metrics for measuring the impact of the gatherings.

• Participate in developing a framework for placing and analysing different ways of gathering.

  
  

We are looking for you who:

• Understand and embrace the essence of participatory design and co-creative approaches.

• Have experience with event management and/or curation.

• Possess an adaptable and learning mindset.

• Can cultivate transparent and productive relationships with collaborators.

  
  

It’s beneficial if you:

• Have existing networks in Malmö (civil society, culture, business, academia)

• Have experience working in one or many of the types of organisations in Media Evolution’s member community (private business, public organisation, academic institutions)

• Have professional or educational experience with one of Media Evolution's areas of focus: Foresight, Us and Technology, Systems and Sustainability, Cities and Habitats, Creative Development, and Change Management.

• Have pursued studies in social sciences, design or related fields at the university level.

• Are fluent in both English and Swedish, both spoken and written, with good communication abilities.
