To strengthen our foresight team we are looking for a researcher and curator with editorial and writing skills. We are looking for a person with a broad interest in societal, technological and humanistic questions and challenges, and curiosity towards emerging phenomena in culture and science. You will be a part of our foresight team and work with curating the program for our annual gathering The Conference and lead our processes for community wide collaborative foresight.

Curate a leading conference
The Conference is an internationally acclaimed conference that annually gathers 1000 persons from around the world to discuss the future of business, design, technology and society at large. 40 speakers from various industries share their experience. Together with installations and experiences that both emotionally and intellectually opens up for new conversations and thoughts. The Conference has since its inauguration in 2011 been a space to discuss, explore and learn about the emergent and the tangible, the idealistic and realistic, the problems and the solutions.

Lead collaborative foresight processes
In our collaborative foresight work, we do longer deep dives into topics related to humans relationships with technology and ways of understanding systems. We utilise the thousands of people in our local and global community to imagine potential and desired futures. Collaborative foresight is a carefully facilitated process that makes use of signal scanning and co-creative workshops to help people see and feel what the future might hold. In parallel, we do editorial work to synthesise new insights and knowledge generated and share them as digital content, printed books and in seminars for wide dissemination

The Role: Curator and researcher in Media Evolution’s foresight team
This is where you come in. You will lead the work in setting topics and research questions, write briefs, contextualise signals, and identify contributors for our stages and workshops alike. You will oversee and be responsible for making the foresight cycles happen, communicating with participants, and synthesising the output generated, and lead the curation of the program of The Conference 2023.

We believe that you need to be curious, are able to develop honest and good relations with companies and people at the forefront of their fields, and have a strong drive to curate cutting edge conversation on stages, in workshop settings, and in outputs thereof.

You work closely with the vision and strategy directors and our communications manager. The role is based in Malmö and all of the work is done in English.

In this role, you will have the responsibilities to:

• curate an agenda setting conference (The Conference) as well as seminars and workshops.

• lead the work on collaborative foresight processes.

• work as the editor of output (insights and new knowledge) to be published digitally and as printed books.

• actively cultivate relationships with potential contributors and participants.

• develop your own briefs, and work with the contributors to ensure the conversation we drive are in line with the mission and curatorial quality of Media Evolution.

• brainstorm and strategize new content and formats with colleagues and community.

• work closely with the communications and marketing manager to ensure all content reaches its potential impact.

It’s a great advantage if you:

• have project management experience

• have experience as a stage moderator

• have the skills required to lead workshops as a facilitator

• have experience of curating installations

• have previous experience of book editing or similar

• have knowledge of and experience in working with futures thinking and foresight methods and approaches
